An important idea in the Torah, where - one might argue - modern environmentalism has its roots. A family interested in the environment might look into having a Torah portion that discusses it. But either way, you can have a party that evokes these important ideas.

Eco-friendly B’nai Mitzvah Invitations from Mitzvah Artistree
Mitzvah Artistree is Going Green! We are a fine art studio specializing in a refreshingly modern collection of B’nai Mitzvah Invitations and Save the Date Cards, and we take our responsibility to the Earth seriously.
Through our established partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, we look forward to aiding in the replanting of many of our nation’s forests.
For every invitation order we receive through our studio, we make a contribution to the Arbor Day Foundation's Reforestation Program, allowing one tree to be planted in a damaged forest.
We are thrilled to be a part of this earth and soul friendly program and hope that our clients will feel great purchasing from our studio, knowing that we are all doing our part to keep the world healthy and green!

This box would be cool if it just sat there, but it does much more. Plant it after the party and enjoy a patch of wildflowers. Love the mystical shape and the concept.

This centerpiece is a little grand with the gold base, but a naturalistic version would be spectacular at a party about caring for the earth. You can vary the look by varying the fruits (mix in with the grapes kumquats or small carved oranges, lemons or limes; cherries, and even small vegetables, then adding bits of vine, twigs or ferns. Also incredibly beautiful and simple: use a lino-carving tool - available from any fine arts supply store - to cut beautiful patterns in oranges. Just a few of these in a bowl with limes, artichokes and other pretty fruits and greens, and you've got a gorgeous yet unpretentious centerpiece. Hire a crafts mom to do the carving. You don't need to be doing it the day before your party unless you need it for therapy!
See the topiary instructions in the Crafts chapter of MitzvahChic.

Make a natural ice bucket by filling a bucket 2/3 of the way with water; mixing in some flowers, petals or even small fruits; and putting the whole thing into the freezer. As it gets slushy and starts to thicken, stir the flowers/fruits around to make sure they're evenly distributed, then push a tall 2-pint container into the center; put a plate on top and weight it so you get a hollow center. Freeze solid. Unmold onto a tray with sides that will catch the runoff as it melts. Use it for champagne or other bottle needing chilling.
